We are pleased to announce the inaugural Adam R. Thayer Scholarship in honor of our beloved colleague Adam Thayer. Adam was the Director of Information Technology at Goodwill Industries of North Florida, when he unexpectedly passed away in February 2020. Adam was a graduate of Nease High School and he received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Florida State College at Jacksonville. He loved his family, God and Goodwill. He was passionate about Goodwill’s mission to help remove barriers to employment. He was also a strong proponent of education, community service and helping others to succeed.
He was an amazing, creative and talented man. We are proud to establish this annual scholarship in his honor. Please see scholarship criteria and application details below.
The Adam R. Thayer Scholarship Fund awards a scholarship to a college-bound high school senior based on demonstrated academic achievement, financial need, and an expressed interest in pursuing an education in Information Technology.
The student eligible for assistancemust be a current Goodwill employee or a graduating high school senior who intends to continue their education in information technology. Consideration will be given to academic achievement, financial need and the student’s community service record. Applicants should submit a scholarship application on the form provided.
The scholarship will be awarded on an annual basis and disbursed in equal payments in August and January. Students must continue to attend classes and maintain no lower than a 2.5 grade-point average (or equivalent).
The scholarship awarded will be a total of $5,000 to be paid in two equal installments.
This scholarship is not renewable. Previous scholarship recipients cannot re-apply.
