CITY COUNCILMAN TERRANCE FREEMAN WELCOMES GOODWILL’S NEWEST STORE TO JACKSONVILLE’S WESTSIDE

JACKSONVILLE, FL (July 23, 2020) – The Honorable Terrance Freeman, At Large Councilman for the City of Jacksonville, officially welcomed Goodwill Industries of North Florida’s newest store and drive-thru donation center to the Westside this morning.  Located at 6059 Blanding Blvd., this free standing 16k square foot building replaces a much smaller footprint that Goodwill built and quickly outgrew over 15 years ago.

“I’m pleased to be here and support Goodwill of North Florida – not just today but every day. What they do for our community is of utmost need right now and I’m committed to fight for funds for them to continue their mission,” said Freeman. “Congratulations Goodwill on your new location.”

After many months of unforeseen delays, the new store features a much larger and brighter sales floor, larger back-room for processing donations, plenty of parking for shoppers and a convenient canopy covered drive-thru for donors to drop off their gently used items, without having to leave their cars.

“The Westside has been a huge supporter of Goodwill for many years and we are so excited to finally open our doors to the community again. This has been a highly anticipated project and it feels amazing to safely welcome everyone in, especially during these challenging times,” said Goodwill President and CEO, David Rey. “So many in our community have donated to us more than ever while being quarantined, and there’s just so much inventory in this new location and all our stores. That’s so important because our retail stores are the economic engine which supports our mission, to train and employ individuals with barriers to employment.

The new store employs a team of 20.

Store hours are Monday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, please visit www.goodwilljax.org.
