GOODWILL / ABILITYONE PARTNERSHIP

Established in 1974, AbilityOne is one of two national, non-profit agencies designated by the federal government to support non-profit agencies participating in the AbilityOne Program, formerly Javits-Wagner-O’Day (JWAD), which provides employment opportunities for people with severe disabilities by procuring Federal contracts for goods and services.

People with disabilities make valuable contributions to our country’s workforce everyday. Expanding employment opportunities for these individuals will help ensure that our economy is drawing on the talents and creativity of all its citizens.

Since 1998, Goodwill of North Florida has managed two AbilityOne Food Service Contracts at the Naval Air Station Jacksonville Main Galley and the Mayport Naval Station Oasis Galley. These programs offer employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities to enter the workforce and become independent, self-sufficient members of society.

Under the supervision of Goodwill, these individuals develop a positive work ethic and learn skills that will allow them to maintain meaningful employment. Government guidelines require seventy-five percent of the direct labor hours to be performed by individuals with a documented disability.
